User experience engineer
Join us as a user experience engineer to make our websites and web applications intuitively easy to use. Our sites have previously won three Webby awards and other prestigious accolades. You’ll be working with designers and developers to create interfaces and layouts that minimise user effort, avoid confusion, and look great at the same time. You will have control over the design decisions that make a difference to the usability of the final product, and will be skilled at implementing them in HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Responsibilities:
- Layout of controls and content, wireframing of key interfaces
- Review and overhaul of existing applications to improve user experience
- Implementation of UI interaction behaviours in JavaScript
- Working with outsourcers to quality control the production of HTML markup and CSS from design mocks
- Working with designers to ensure creative choices are compatible with user experience goals
Required skills
- JavaScript, CSS3 and HTML5
- Experience with JQuery
- Usability and user experience layout design
- Information architecture
- Interaction design
- Prototyping / wireframing
Desirable skills
- Some knowledge of PHP and SQL
- Experience with mobile device web development challenges
Desirable background
Relevant bachelors degree and significant industry experience, or a masters level degree in human factors or human computer interaction.
Salary
We offer salaries of £25,000 – £50,000 for user experience engineer roles
