Recruiter guide
If you represent a candidate and wish to submit an application on their behalf, we welcome it, but we will not pay a fee for it unless we have agreed terms with you in advance.
Contacting us
Please do not phone us. We receive on average three unsolicited phone calls from recruitment agencies every day, and we do not have time to explain our business verbally to every single one. In fact, every minute you spend on the phone to us is costing us money. Candidates that approach us directly do so by reading our job spec, understanding the guidelines we have documented, and then submitting their CV online. It will help us enormously if you would do the same.
If you do not have a recruiter code to use for online submissions of candidates, you can get one by emailing us.
Thanks.
Minimum terms
The following minimum terms apply to all arrangements we have with recruiters. Assanka will not work with any recruiter offering less favourable terms than these, though of course you can offer us more favourable terms if you wish, and some agencies do.
- All candidates will be sent to us using our online application form, not by email.
- The information supplied in the application will be that of the candidate, not the recruiter (we will use the information to automatically tell you if the candidate is already known to us, and to contact the candidate with a test access key).
- We will pay, at most, 15% of the candidate's starting salary (you may make a lower offer if you wish).
- Any pay rises the candidate receives after their first day on the job will not affect the fee we pay.
- The fee will be paid no less than 12 weeks after the candidate's first day. You will not send an invoice until that period has elapsed, and the fee will only be due if the candidate is still employed with Assanka at that time. To be clear: no money will change hands until the candidate has been employed for 12 weeks, even if you are prepared to refund it if the candidate leaves within that time.
These minimum terms are not negotiable.
Recruitment process
Candidates applying for positions at Assanka will go through the following process:
- Online application: Fill in the application form on behalf of your client, using your recruiter code (if you don't have one, and you're prepared to meet or beat the terms outlined above, get in touch). The application will be reviewed for compatibility with the advertised requirements.
- Skills assessment or phone interview: If the application is accepted, the candidate will receive an access code that allows access to the online skills assessment. The candidate will have 14 days to submit a completed test. For non engineering roles, we will conduct a telephone interview.
- Interview: If the candidate scores well in the skills assessment (or passes the phone interview) they will be invited for an in-person interview at our office in Shepherds Bush, west London. This will include further technical questions, and will last around 90 minutes.
- Code review, workshop or second interview: For technical roles, we will normally request that the candidate supply a piece of original code, from work they have completed in the last 3 years. If they are not in a position to do this, we may instead invite the candidate to do a day's workshop with us, or conduct a second, more technical interview.
- Offer: If the second round interview or code review is successful, we will make an offer of a permanent position.
Unsolicited submissions
Please note that in the case of unsolicited submissions of candidates, we do not accept your terms of business. If you submit a candidate without agreeing terms with us first, and we recruit them, we will not pay any fee for this placement. Even if you submit a candidate whose CV includes your terms of business, we hereby reject these terms and reserve the right to contact and recruit the candidate anyway. This notice serves as fair warning that submitting a candidate to us constitutes agreement that we may freely contact and employ them without incurring any liability for fees or charges of any kind.
